No Blog? I Blame the Red Sox!

If I am extremely late to post today (and I am) it’s because of my favorite sports team, the Boston Red Sox.

Vicki

Doudera here, laying the responsibility for my tardy missive right at the cleat-wearing feet of Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia (my favorite players) and, after last night’s victory over the Tampa Bay Rays, Shane Victorino as well.

I had it all planned out:  come home from the office at 6 pm. have some dinner (my husband made a terrific butternut squash soup), write a nice blog post for MCW about a great event I went to last week.  And then….

And then the 8:30 baseball game started, and it wasn’t looking great for the Sox, so of course I had to stay up and keep cheering them on, and it got later and later, and there went my perfectly crafted plans.

But we do call this blog “LIVING and Writing in Maine” and part of what living here means is cheering on the Boston teams. Thanks to last night’s 3 to 1 victory, the Red Sox now advance to the ALCS (that’s American League Championship Series) for the first time since 2008, when they lost in seven games to – irony of ironies — the Rays. They await the winner of Thursday’s Game 5 between the Detroit Tigers and Oakland A’s, but we already know the Red Sox have home-field advantage. Yippee!

The start of that series is set for this coming Saturday, Oct. 12.

Let’s hope I’m not blogging on the 13th!
