In the news department, here’s what’s happening with some of us who blog regularly at Maine Crime Writers:

Maureen Milliken will give a presentation, “Mortal Missteps: Lost on the Appalachian Trail in Maine,” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Belgrade Public Library, 124 Depot St., Belgrade. The slideshow program covers some famous and not-so-famous accounts of people lost on the AT in Maine. It’s free and open to the public. Maureen’s expertise on the topic is a combination of her research for her third book, BAD NEWS TRAVELS FAST, as well as the podcast, Crime & Stuff, that she co-hosts with her sister Rebecca.

Don’t forget to look for Maureen Milliken and Kate Flora at the Brunswick 2nd Friday Art Walk, which is inexplicably on the first Friday this month, Aug. 7, in downtown Brunswick.

Kate and Maureen also will be at the Maine Book and Print Fest in Waterville, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15 and 16, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. It’s at Head of Falls.

And to finish off the month, they’ll be at the Designing Women Artisan’s Fair, Saturday, Aug. 29, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. That’s at Longfellow’s Greenhouses in Manchester, Maine, 81 Puddledock Road. It’s always a very nice show, with lots of cool stuff.

Matt Cost and Allison Keeton will engage in a lively discussion about their writing process and their books at the Bristol Area Library, Rte 130, Bristol, ME, on Wednesday, August 5 at 5 p.m.  Books will be available for purchase after the talk.

Allison Keeton is attending the Olde Bristol Days craft fair at Pemaquid Beach from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 8.
