Weekend Update: May 31-June 1, 2025

Next week at Maine Crime Writers there will be posts by Kaitlyn Dunnett/Kathy Lynn Emerson (Monday), Kate Flora (Tuesday), Brenda Buchanan (Thursday), and John Clark (Friday).

In the news department, here’s what’s happening with some of us who blog regularly at Maine Crime Writers:

Maureen Milliken’s DYING FOR NEWS was named winner of the 2025 Maine Literary Award in crime fiction Thursday night. The book is the fourth in Maureen’s Bernadette “Bernie” O’Dea mystery series.

Maureen, Matt Cost and Dale Phillips will have a group book signing from 1-3 p.m. Saturday (today) at Barnes & Noble, 200 Running Hill Road, South Portland, Maine. Stop by and say hi!

Thanks to Juliana O’Brien for interviewing Jule Selbo re: the DEE ROMMEL Mystery series at South Portland Library on May 29.    Also, June 17,  Jule Selbo will be interviewing Gillian French re: her new book Shaw Connolly Lives to Tell in Bangor Maine at Bangor Public Library at 6 pm

An invitation to readers of this blog: Do you have news relating to Maine, Crime, or Writing? We’d love to hear from you. Just comment below to share.

And a reminder: If your library, school, or organization is looking for a speaker, we are often available to talk about the writing process, research, where we get our ideas, and other mysteries of the business, along with the very popular “Making a Mystery” with audience participation, and “Casting Call: How We Staff Our Mysteries.” We also do programs on Zoom.
