What I’ve Been Reading

Kaitlyn Dunnett/Kathy Lynn Emerson here. I recently had carpal tunnel surgery that wasn’t entirely successful, since I put it off longer than I should have, so both before and after I’ve been avoiding writing and spending a lot more time reading other people’s books to rest the tingly fingers on my right hand. What follows are some of the novels and nonfiction I wholeheartedly recommend.

Why Longfellow Lied—a book for kids but delightful for adults, too. It tells the real story of both Paul Revere’s ride and Longfellow’s poem.

Murder Most Fowl

all of Deborah Crombie’s series—18 titles

Lindsay Davis’s new Flavia Albia mystery

And here’s what I’m reading now:

Kasey Michaels’ Romney Marsh series of historical romances, a reread. There are seven books in the series and I’m on number five.

Rereading/listening to J. D. Robb’s In Death series from the beginning—I’m up to Survivor in Death (on audio cassette on a Walkman)

an ARC of Maggie Robinson’s latest

Ruth Goodman’s How to Behave Badly in Elizabethan England

Happy reading, everyone!

Thanks, Kathy. I see some authors here I need to try. Deborah Crombie, for one. Sorry about your surgery. I hope you heal well and can get back to writing that next book.

Always looking for new authors. This will keep me busy for a while. Young adult reads are as satisfying as their more mature brethren. The carpel tunnel does get better. It will take a while for the nerves to calm down after their tight squeeze. What an excuse to have for more reading!

Several of my favorite authors, especially Donna Andrews and Deborah Crombie.

You are a brave woman, listening to so many J D Robb novels. The narrator is amazing I found, but the deep MURDER world she creates is often so gritty I have to take a break. Thanks to you, I will go check out the next one as listen as I drive. Her books are the ones that keep me awake. Thanks for all the other references!
