Next week at Maine Crime Writers there will be posts by Maureen Milliken (Monday), Dick Cass (Tuesday), and John Clark (Thursday), with a group blog about Halloween on Friday.
In the news department, here’s what’s happening with some of us who blog regularly at
Maureen Milliken this afternoon has a 4 p.m. Zoom presentation at the Louisville Book Festival, “The Power of Setting in Storytelling.” The free festival features a variety of authors and programs, and, even if you don’t check out my presentation, it’s worth checking out the festival, which aims to support literacy in underserved areas. Maine Crime Writers:
On October 31st, the Concord Festival of Authors will present a Mystery Night zoom panel, Casting Call. Participating will be Kathy Lynn Emerson/Kaitlyn Dunnett, Charlene D’Avanzo, and Kate Flora, along with author Edwin Hill. Here is the zoom link to register:
Last summer, Kate Flora recorded a reading of her story, “Aftermath,” from the Superior Shores Anthology, Heartbreaks and Half-truths. There are a few moments where the connection failed, but you might still enjoy listening to the story of a lonely widow watching the Maine lobstermen across the road. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_laUMIv6AtU&feature=youtu.be
Just one more week to enter:
It’s Maine Crime Writers “Where Would You Put the Body?” contest – late summer/early fall edition. How do you enter? Send a photograph of your chosen spot to: WritingAboutCrime@gmail.com with “Where Would You Put the Body?” in the subject line. There will be prizes for First, Second, and Third place–books of course and other Maine goodies. You may enter no more than three photographs, each one entered separately. They must be of Maine places and you must identify the place in your submission. Photos must be the submitter’s original work. Contest will run through the end of October.
Just a few days left to get Kate Flora’s next Thea Kozak mystery, Death Comes Knocking at the preorder price of just $3.94. Price good until Oct. 27th.
