It’s time to get your tickets for the third annual Maine Crime Writers staged readings at Portland Stage Company. Scenes written by five Maine crime writers–Kate Flora, Dick Cass, Chris Holm, Julia Spencer-Fleming and Gayle Lynds–will be read by Equity and local actors affiliated with Portland Stage Company on Tuesday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. The actors will bring to life the characters you know and love, then the authors will take the stage for a talkback with the audience. On Saturday, April 6th from 11:00 to 1:00 Bruce Robert Coffin will be discussing his Detective Byron Mystery Series at the Waterford Library in Waterford, Maine.

Released a crime cozy in November last year and the second in t he series will be out this spring. My Neighbor’s Keeper is enjoyed by all that read it. Child’s Keeper will also take place in Farmington and surrounding area. I didn’t realize there were so many Maine crime writers, or so many, so very many writers in Maine. I’m enjoying the posts so far. Printed a few out ’cause I’m an old fashioned hard copy sort of person. Question. Do you ever get together or have gatherings of any kind?
Hello, Louisette. Congrats on your new book. As we are spread out all over the state, and some of us are out of state part of the year, we don’t get together as Maine Crime Writers, but there are three annual gatherings many of us attend. Malice Domestic is coming up in May and is a convention put on by fans of traditional mysteries in Bethesda, MD. Then in June, Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance sponsors a two day conference in Portland (Maine Crime Wave) and in the fall the New England chapters of Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime put on the New England Crime Bake, held just outside of Boston.
