Weekend Update: September 12-13, 2015

fallsbooks1Next week at Maine Crime Writers there will be posts by Maureen Milliken (Monday) Jen Blood (Tuesday), Lea Wait (Wednesday), Barb Ross (Thursday) and Susan Vaughan (Friday).

In the news department, here’s what’s happening with some of us who blog regularly at Maine Crime Writers:

Murder by the Book is next weekend at Jesup Memorial Library. Check it out!

Kate Flora sometimes suspects that few of you out there are actually reading our updates, so I’m sneaking something in here. One person who leaves a comment during the upcoming week will win him or herself one of the very first, hot off the presses, copies of the group novel she wrote with four other crime writers. Kate, Lise McClendon, Taffy Cannon, Gary Phillips, and Katy Munger teamed up to write a novel about a serial killer who is knocking off famous TV chefs. The book is Beat, Slay, Love by Thalia Filbert. Bound to be a best seller and likely made into a movie, or at least to make you laugh. You heard it here first.

  1. michael says:

I have come to expect sneaky things from crime writers, good thinking.

  2. Gram says:

I usually comment about once a week, so that works for me. 🙂

  3. Karla says:

Even when I’m not commenting, I’m digesting. Days, weeks, months after reading entries, a tip by Kate, Barb, Lea, Kaitlyn, etc. makes me re-think, focus, work harder.

  4. Paula Keeney says:

That sounds like a book we’ve got to have! We could use it as a door prize. Weather permitting, Saturday, September 19, 4 to 6 p.m. we’re hosting a little “Crime and Cocktails” (homicide and hors d’oeuvres) gathering here at Mainely Murders Bookstore in downtown Kennebunk. Okay, perhaps a belated celebration of Agatha Christie’s birthday (September 15). If you’re in the neighborhood…

  5. Katrina says:

I don’t comment but I try to read every day. From the author updates, recipes, writing ideas, pictures, glimpses into your lives, more about Maine, history, how to’s and lots more. There’s always something new to learn, enjoy, ponder. Thank you for sharing yourselves and your expertise!

  6. Mary Engels says:

Love the title. Just that should make it a bestseller!

  7. jt ni chols says:

    I read ‘m all!

  8. Helen Mochetti says:

Love the group authored title and pseud!

  9. I make a point of reading all of them. Not always intrigued by a few of them, but I always learn something new.

  10. John Clark says:

Kate knows I never win anything , but I do read the blog pretty regularly.

  11. Myrna Bouchard says:

Yes, I would love to read a good group-written mystery. I love cooking shows and love watching chefs do their thing so why not add a little murder spice to the concoction. You send it, I’ll read it!
