Key West Literary Seminar–Week Two

Hi. Barb here. I’ve been in Key West all month and was lucky enough to attend both weeks of the Key West Literary Seminar.

The seminar is held annually in January and celebrates a different aspect of literature and writing every year. In fact, Lucy Burdette’s second Key West Food Critic Mystery, Death in Four Courses takes place during a fictional version of the seminar during a year when the focus is on food writing. I was at a reception where I said to one of my tablemates, “Lucy Burdette killed someone at this very event. Right over there!”

This year the subject was The Dark Side–Crime Fiction.

Vicki Doudera wrote about the seminar last week, going into depth on one of the topics–plausibility versus authenticity.

Today, I’m taking a broader look at the interesting and provocative things the authors said during the second week of the seminar.
