In the news department, here’s what’s happening with some of us who blog regularly at Maine Crime Writers:

From Kaitlyn Dunnett (aka Kate Emerson and Kathy Lynn Emerson), Kate Flora, Barb Ross, and Lea Wait: Tomorrow, October 21st, we’ll be at the Sisters in Crime booth at the New England Library Association conference in Portland, Maine, just hanging out after lunch and then Kaitlyn, Kate, and Lea will “officially” be signing books from 3:30 to 4:30. Maine librarians, and those from the other New England states, too, we hope you’ll stop by to say hello.

From Barbara Ross: So looking forward to meeting New England librarians and seeing some of my Maine Crime Writers crew at the New England Library Association conference. I didn’t manage to post last Sunday, but I do have some news. Just got the cover for Boiled Over, the second Maine Clambake Mystery which is coming out May 6, 2014.  What do you think?

Oh, and I just found out, two stories from last year’s Best New England Crime Stories: Blood Moon, “Driving Miss Rachel” by Ray Daniel and “Death from a Bad Heart” by B.B. Oak were recognized as “Distinguished Mystery Stories of 2012” in Best American Mystery Stories, edited by Lisa Scottoline and Otto Penzler.

From Kaitlyn Dunnett: Love the cover, Barb! And speaking of new books, Julia Spencer-Fleming reports that the newest entry in her Clare Fergusson/Russ Van Alstyne series,Through the Evil Days will be out November 5th and is available for preorders now. From Kate Flora: I will be speaking at the North Gorham Library this coming Thursday at 7:00. Hope some of you will come and hear me talk about the experience of writing true crime, fictional crime, and crime short stories. And as an added incentive, there will be a gift basket of books that someone will take home, including your very own Maine moose cookie cutter. Hope to see you there!
